The new production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola that was premiered on Friday the 22nd of January at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma as part of the “Rossini a Roma 200 anni” project was relayed live in Italian and European cinemas and shown later to cinemas in Australia, Korea, Japan and the USA.

Thanks to a joint project with Rai Com, the first night of La Cenerentola was relayed live in 64 cinemas in Italy and various cinemas in Europe (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland). Later this year it will also be shown in cinemas in Australia, Korea, Japan and the United States of America.

Two hundred years since the “Roman” composition of this dramma giocoso by Gioachino Rossini and its first performance at the Teatro Valle in 1817, a new production is now being staged in Rome, directed by Emma Dante, making her debut at the Teatro Costanzi. The Orchestra dell’Opera di Roma is conducted by Maestro Alejo Pérez, who already received a warm reception from the Roman audience during the 2012/2013 Season when he conducted Shostakovich’s Il Naso.
