Francesco Giambrone

 

Born in 1957, has been Sovrintendente  of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma since December 2021. Since October 2022 he has held the position of Presidente of AGIS- Associazione Generale Italiana dello Spettacolo. From 2019 to October 2022 he was Presidente of the National Association of Opera and Symphony Foundations (ANFOLS). From 2014 to 2021 he served as Sovrintendente of the Fondazione Teatro Massimo of Palermo. In 1994 he was appointed Board Member of the Ente Autonomo Teatro Massimo of which he was Sovrintendente, from 1999 to 2002. From 2006 to 2010 he served as Sovrintendente of the Fondazione Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. From 2007 to 2013 he was Presidente of the Conservatorio di Musica Vincenzo Bellini in Palermo. He was a member of the Music Advisory Commission at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities from 2003 to 2006. Twice he was appointed by Leoluca Orlando, Councillor for Culture of the City of Palermo, first from 1995 to 1999 and then from 2012 to 2014. From 2020 to 2022 he has been a member of the board of Opera Europa. From 2002 to 2013 he was President of the Associazione Teatri Aperti. As a freelance journalist, he has been a music and dance critic for newspapers such as the Giornale di Sicilia and for magazines such as Danza&Danza, Segno, Nuove Effemeridi, and Il Giornale della Musica, also serving as Editor-in-Chief of the periodical of culture, politics and society, Casba. He is professor of Heritage, Tourism and Sustainable Economic Development Policies at LUISS – Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali “Guido Carli” in Rome. Since 2004, he has taught organisation of drama, art, and music studies and cultural policies at the University of Palermo, University of Florence, IULM – Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione in Milan, the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini in Palermo, and the Trento School of Management. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the publication Economy of Culture.
