Roland Böer

Since the 2023/24 season he has been General Music Director of the Nuremberg State Theatre and Principal Conductor of the Nuremberg State Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared as a guest in major international opera houses, including Teatro alla Scala, the Royal Opera House and English National Opera in London, the Deutsche Oper and Komische Oper in Berlin, the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, the Volksoper in Vienna, the Royal Opera Houses in Stockholm and Copenhagen, the Polish State Opera in Warsaw, the Czech National Theatre in Prague and the New National Theatre in Tokyo. As a conductor he has led the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the hr-Sinfonieorchester and the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie. From 2002 to 2008 he served as Kapellmeister at Frankfurt Opera. From 2009 he spent twelve years at the “Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano”, first as Music Director and then as Artistic Director, and he was also Principal Guest Conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg until 2019. He has received the Congregation Award RNCM Fellow from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and is an honorary citizen of the city of Montepulciano.
